Water-Based Dye Stains

Unique, water-based, ultra penetrating stains are designed to work like solvent-based stains. The deep rich tones enhance the wood grain and produce vibrant colors, especially on woods like cherry, walnut, and maple. Dye stains can also be used as a toner when mixed with GF water-based topcoats.

Water-Based Wood Stains

General Finishes Water Based Stains have all the advantages of oil base stains: they spread easily, can be repaired, can be blended effortlessly, and have plenty of open time. The thicker formula allows controlled penetration, which will reduce blotching on softer woods such as Aspen, Pine, and Maple. Available in the following colors: Whitewash, Natural (clear finish), Country Pine, Golden Oak, Antique Oak, Pecan, Shaker Maple, Early American, Antique Cherry, Black Cherry, Rosewood, Walnut, Brown Mahogany, Espresso, and Black.

Gel Stains

Gel Stains are heavy-bodied, and so do not penetrate as deeply into the wood as liquid oil-base stains do. Because of this, they are often less affected by the condition of the wood and can help you get a more even appearance on difficult woods such as aspen or pine. Available in the following colors: American Oak, Antique Walnut, Brown Mahogany, Candelite, Colonial Maple, Georgian Cherry, Golden Pine, Gray, Java, New Pine, Nutmeg, Prairie Wheat.
